Mattydale FD Responds to Pin Job On Townline Road
Tue. Nov 9th 2010

The Mattydale and Hinsdale Fire Departments were alerted to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) this morning just after 7am at the intersection of East Molloy Road and Townline Road.

As Car 2 (A/C Falise) and Car 3 (A/C Dwyer) went in route, the dispatch center advised reports indicated one person trapped and one person lying on the ground.

Car 2 arrived first and confirmed information provided and assumed incident command.  After a quick assessment of the scene a request was made for a second ambulance and and additional engine from the Lyncourt FD due to the time of day and serious nature of the incident.

Car 3 was tasked with overseeing the extrication of the trapped occupant of a late model 2 door sedan.  The second vehicle, a full sized pick up truck also had one occupant and had self extricated and was lying on the ground,

MFD Rescue 1 (Capt Zacholl) and Hinsdale TP 6 arrived together and went work securing, stabilizing and gaining entry to the patient.  Extrication went quickly and the patient was removed in about 15 minutes and turned over to NAVAC for transport to the regional trauma center.  A second NAVAC rig checked the second patient who declined transport.  Lyncourt Engine 1 arrived and assisted with an significant oil leak that was running down the shoulder of the road.

All 3 departments worked extremely well together to provide top level care to the injured parties involved and get them off to the hospital well within the "Golden Hour" we strive for.

Below are some pictures following removal of the patient who suffered numerous injuries but none believed to be life threatening.
