Members of Mattydale Fire Department loaded up Rescue 1 and responded as the RIT (rapid Intervention team) for a working structure fire at 715 South Bay Road in North Syracuse today.

Mickey's Bait Shop, a long time business in the area was damaged by a fire in the roof area that kept crews on scene for a couple of hours.

Rapid Intervention teams are responsible for ensuring the safety of the other firefighters on the scene and are called into action in the event firefighters are lost, trapped, missing or injured at the scene. 

Mattydale Firefighters train on a regular basis for these strenous scenarios.  Mattydale serves as the RIT for numerous fire departments in the area including; North Syracuse, Cicero, Moyers Corners and Minoa.
