The Mattydale Fire Department was very busy the night of July 22nd and the early morning of July 23rd.  At 21:42 hours on July 22, Mattydale responded as the R.I.T. team to a house fire at 8202 Renfrew Drive in the Moyers Corners fire district.  Chief Falise, Capt. Smith, Lt. Schad and F/Fs Kuryla, Geremski and Marshall made up the RIT crew.  The fire was quickly signaled a 99 and the RIT crew arrived and performed its duties until the fire was under control.  Less than 5 hours later at 02:31 hours on July 23, Mattydale was activated for a engine crew to respond to a large commercial building fire at 380 Carr St. in the East Syracuse fire district.  The crew of Capt. Fitch, Capt. Smith, Lt. Schad and F/Fs Kuryla, Geremski and Spier responded directly to the scene and were put to work on a handline keeping recycled materials fires under control.  This fire was also quickly signaled a 99 and the crew was there until after 08:00 hours.  Later that day, another crew went to help with overhaul operations.  A very busy night into day for Mattydale!
