Mattydale Fire Department activated for structure fire in Minoa
Sat. Sep 8th 2012

At 16:10 hours on Friday, August 31st,  the Mattydale Fire Department was activated on a coverage move-up to Minoa, who were operating at a fire in a two-story wood frame dwelling on Hulbert St..  Engine 2 responded to Minoa Station 2 with a crew of Asst. Chief George Dwyer, Lt. Nick Piccolo, F/F Eric Geremski and F/F Blake Harden.  After standing by at Station 2 for a while, Engine 2 was called into the scene.  Upon arrival, the crew was instructed to go to the rear of the structure to man a 1-3/4" handline.  As F/F Geremski and Harden manned the line, Asst. Chief Dwyer and Lt. Piccolo used a chain saw to remove a section of wall on side C to get to hidden pockets of fire.  All firefighting operations were conducted outside the structure, due to unsafe conditions.  Engine 2 finally returned to service at 21:00 hours.
