Tonight opened the 2010 softball season for the Mattydale Fire Department.  Mattydale FD along with other departments in the northern part of Onondaga County compete in a fire department league each year.

This year we traveled to Baldwinsville to take on one of the stronger teams in the league, Baldwinsville team #1.  While the score went back and forth with each team taking the lead at different times, it was the Mattydale team that came out with the win with a final score of 20-15.

With the last few seasons being a struggle for our team, to open up the season with an impressive win against a strong team is very exciting.

Our team plays every Wednesday evening with games starting at 6:30pm.  We travel some weeks and host teams at our home field at Burham Park in Mattydale on Westwood Ave.  We encourage everyone to come support us!  After every game, the home team hosts everyone for some aftergame food and drink.  All are welcome.
