Today the Mattydale Fire Department visited with the Bessie Riordan Apartments, a senior citizen apartment building, to share our fire safety message.
On hand to share the message was 1st Assistant Chief Brian Falise and Past Chief and MFD Fire Prevention Officer, John Kilpatrick.
Using the NFPA presentation "Remembering When", a fire safety and fall prevention Power Point presentation available on NFPA's website, the team spoke with residents about a variety of safety messages important to seniors including kitchen safety, smoking and how to prevent fall ype injuries.
Following the presentation, the residents were able to play a short trivia game that rewarded right answers with MFD pot holders and other fire safety items (actually everyone got something at the end). The program was well attended and recieved high marks from building management and residents.
