Mattydale Fire Department conducts live fire training at Onondaga Hill Training Tower
Wed. May 29th 2013

Thursday, May 23rd was the first night of live fire training for the Mattydale Fire Department.  Each year, our firefighters must work live fire evolutions as part of their qualifications to be interior certified firefighters.  The firefighters must show proficiency in hose advancement, fire suppression, search and rescue and RIT setup.  The first night to work towards 2013 qualifications was Thursday.  Four teams of 3 went through (4) evolutions under live fire conditions - first line advancement and fire suppression, backup line advancement, primary search of structure with victim removal and RIT operations set-up.  Teams worked hard and the evolutions ran smoothly.  The North Syracuse Fire Department sent a crew to run the burn room for us that night.  We thank them for their help.  Live fire training continues on June 6.  There will be day and night training that day.
