Mattydale Firefighters Spend Night Working on Truck Company Skills
Thu. Apr 9th 2009

Mattydale firefighters spend many nights training.  Every Thursday day and night, drills are held to sharpen their skills in the many areas that they need to be proficient at.

At this drill we took our members to a local acquired structure that is scheduled for demolition and conducted several drills simultaneously.

Assistant Chief Gunther conducted training with our driver/operators sharpening their ladder control skills while Lieutentant Piccolo took some members inside and utillizing our smoke generation machine worked on ventilation skills using different smoke ejector fans.  Lt Smith took our firefighters up on the roof and instructed them on techniques for doing vertical ventilation with power saws.

Assistant Chief Falise served as the Safety Officer for the night.

Past Chief Charlie Schirtz works the ladder controls positioning the ladder on the roof.

FF/Paramedic Vinnie Stevenson uses a chain saw to simuate opening a roof cutting through a pallet.

Firefighter Snobrich positions a smoke ejector to clean out a smoke filled room

Lt Smith looks on as FF's Dave Fitch and Phil Falise take a turn at the roof drill
