On June 8, 2012 at 13:44 hours, the Mattydale Fire Department was activated for a reported structure fire at 806 Boulevard Street. Additional information came in from Mike Brown, retired Moyers Corners Capt. and post worker, who was on scene reporting fire in the rear of the structure. Asst Chief George Dwyer was first to arrive and reported light grey smoke with fire on side C of the structure. As Quint 3 arrived, with Capt. Chuck Smith, F/F Eric Geremski, F/F Dave Vivenzio, F/F John Kuryla and F/F Sir Winston, A/C Dwyer upgraded the assignment to a signal 99 with heavy black smoke. Q-3 crew stretched a 1-3/4" handline to division 1, B/C side of the structure. Liverpool E-2 arrived and stretched a additional 1-3/4" handline into division 1, side A, moving to side D. Mattydale Engine 2, with Capt. Tim Zacholl, Lt. Vinnie Stevenson, F/F Don Bender, and F/F Edward Lehmann III, stretched a 3rd handline to division 2 to check for extension. North Syracuse E-6 arrived and assumed truck company assignment. The fire was brought under control in approx. 22 minutes, with heavy overhaul following. Other units on the fire scene were Mattydale Rescue 1 (F/F Dolson, F/F Hurteau and F/F Hawkins), Lyncourt E-1, Hinsdale TP6, East Syracuse E-4, Clay R-3, Moyers Corners R-3 (RIT team) and Liverpool C-1 and C-2. The Mattydale Ladies Auxiliary, EAVES and NAVAC worked together on rehab.
