The Mattydale Fire Department's Regional HazMat Response Team Members (RHMRT) spent part of Saturday practicing the setup procedures for the large heavy duty inflatable decontamination tents that the department has responsibility for.
The team members took the R-2 and the hazmat trailer out to baldwinsville and set up the tents and heater system for use as a warming tent at a local Boy Scout event. The event gave the team an excellent opportunity to setup and take down the tents.
The MFD team members continue to impress the rest of the regional team with their dedication to training and the number of members actively participating.
Assisting with Saturday's drill were:
- Asst. Chief Brian Falise
- FF Dave Fitch
- FF Rich Bilger
- FF Eric Geremski
- FF Ken White
- FF Curt Knarr
- FF Mike Dolson
A shot of some of the guys setting up the tents - there are actually 2 tents connected together
A shot of the entire tent system set up with the heating system connected
A close up of the heating system. This system pumps enough heat that the system is usually shut off after a while to allow the tents to cool down!
