The Mattydale Jr. Fire Department took a field trip to the Syracuse Fire Department's "ARFF" (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) Station at Syracuse Hancock International Airport today.
The members were invited by Assistant Chief Falise, a firefighter at the station, to visit and recieve first aid training. Chief Falise, an ASHI first aid instructor, provided the training at SFD station #4. Following the training, the Juniors bought lunch for everyone including the firefighters on duty before being given a tour of the entire facility and a demonstration of the capibilities of one of the crash trucks, "ARFF-8"
This training finishes up a month where they also recieved CPR training in quarters thanks to firefighter Bill Mclaren.
Thanks to Lt. Nick Piccolo, Lt. Tim Zacholl and FF Curt Knarr for taking the time to bring the 10 Junior firefighters on the trip.
Chief Falise (or is it firefighter Falise?) welcomes the Jr Firefighters to Station #4
The class focuses on their test at end of training session
The group takes a minute for a group shot next to "ARFF-8"
