The Mattydale Fire Department grabbed ahold of a great opportunity to share our fire safety message by hosting an "Open House" at the Mattydale Fire Station on Halloween afternoon. With Halloween falling on a Saturday this year and with the weather cooperating, it mad for a fun afternoon.
With visiting agencies such as the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office conducting child ID cards and a visit with "McGruff the Crime Dog" and NAVAC Ambulance sharing its message of injury prevention and allowing visitors a chance to explore one of their ambulances it offered a well rounded look at emergency services in our area.
Also on hand was the Wilderness Search and Rescue Team of Onondaga County. These dedicated people go out when hunters and other people get lost in the outdoors.
The Fire Department had their "Hazard House" on display as well as members manning the OCVFA "Smoke Trailer", a trailer that allows participants to learn about fires in the home, how to prevent them and how to get out safe.
Along with other displays and demonstrations the day was a great success. Thank you to all the firefighters and other emergency responders that shared a message of safety to the Mattydale community.
