The Mattydale Fire Department members met for what has become an annual event. Each year in September the Officers and Firefighters of the department gather for a competitive (but fun!) flag football game at one of our local elementary schools.
The Officers have dominated the firefighters so far in this yearly competition and have yet to lose a game.
This year was no exception as the Officers, led by our quarterback, Lieutentant Tim Zacholl, pounced on the firefighters early and jumped out to a 14-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the game. At the end of the game, the score was 35-14 with the Officers continuing the winning streak.
Following the game, as is also the tradition, all the players and their families went back to the firehouse for a nice lunch put on by the department.
Thank you to Tim Zacholl for organizing the game each year and to Katie Falise for this year's pictures.
Chief of Fire, Brian Wright snaps the ball for the Officers
Captain George Dwyer ready to break through past Firefighter Kurt Knarr
Firefighter Dave Russo takes the snap for the Firefighter team
Assistant Chief Brian Falise and Firefighter Bob Whitehead mix it up on the line
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S NOT A FIRST DOWN!", Assistant Chief Gunther and FF Whitehead have a difference of opinion on a call
In the end, we are all one big, happy family who depend on each other every day!
