Mattydale Fire Department was dispatched mutual aid to North Syracuse Fire department for a commercial structure fire on Tuesday December 23rd at 1:30pm.  The furniture repair facility was located on the old Hancock Airbase.  The North Syracuse Fire Department responded with Mattydale R-1(Capt Whitehead) as the RIT on the box but quickly moved to a second alarm with multiple calls and smoke seen from a distance.  This included Moyers Corners with E-31 & E-32, Cicero Tk-1, Liverpool E-2 and East Syracuse E-1.  Mattydale assumed RIT duties and assisted with securing utilities and setting up lighting inside also.

Unfortunately, a victim was located inside the building that was unable to be revived by crews on scene and NAVAC ambulance and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Mattydale remained on scene for a couple of hours before being released by the incident commander.
